Gift letter is a letter usually accompanying a gift stating why you are sending a gift.Usually these letters are written when someone has accomplished or achieved something and a gift is being sent to acknowledge that. This is also accompanied with the gifts sent for person who is ill or under some depression.

Gift letter should clearly explain why you are sending the letter and what is that you are sending. It’s always advisable to send this letter as soon as possible after the event that prompted you to send the gift. It is a tool to show your enthusiasm and appreciation to the reader about his or her achievements.

It is considered as one of the important aspects of workplace as it not only motivates and encourages the person who receives it but also encourages the other team members as a whole thereby motivating them to strive to achieve success in a similar pattern.

Gift letters can be both formal and personal. The letter should be short and courteous with positive tone. If it is a gift letter sent to a person who is ill or hospitalized the tone of the letter should be enthusiastic and cheerful. The letter should convey how you are missing the presence of the person and can include some humorous anecdotes or jokes or some happy memories that will help the person cheer up.

If it is a letter you have to write after receiving the gift always thank the reader and appreciate the gift whereas if you have to decline a gift appreciate the reader for the gift and state the reason why you are declining the gift very tactfully and politely.
