Transmittal Letters
A transmittal letter is a business letter and is often used in the business communication. It is a letter that is accompanied with an official document which gives the details of the shipment, supplies or equipment being transported or contract, proposal etc. Generally, it is a letter supporting a report and describing what is the content in the report and what the reader should be doing with it.
The important aspect of a transmittal letter is to give details of the agreement that has taken place. It basically gives the information about the report which is confidential and nor specified in the report. It a letter used to highlight the details given in the document or report and communicate sensitive information.
Transmittal letter gives the details of who is sending the shipment if it is regarding shipment or supplies and who is to receive it. It includes the departure date, name of the carrier, the expected delivery date, tracking number, which helps both the sender and receiver to track the supplies. It’s a kind of reminder letter to the reader stating the products they have ordered and also gives an opportunity to promote the qualities of your product for further sales. It can be used as a marketing tool for promoting items other than what the reader has ordered for.
The transmittal letter is commonly used in global business agreements. It is attached with an invoice of consignment for goods that are sold for dispatch to a buyer in other country. The details given in the transmittal letters helps in the custom examinations and avoids hindrances in the delivery of the goods.
